Summer activities.
We have comfertable temperatures during the spring and summer. The scenic nature is like a miniture Norway. We have high mountains and deep vallys. You can swim during the day and if visit the mountains wich are a mere half hour drive away during the afternoon. We have wonderfull swiming facilities for children and adults with a beach and a peir. We have installed a small floating peir a few meters from the shore wich children can use while they're out swimming. We also have a 9 hole minigolf course and a beach volleyball court, we also arrange a yearly minigolf tournement, please contant us for more information about it.

There's a good chance you'll catch a trout or maybe even a char if you decide to go fishing in Tinnsjøen and if you're in a competative mood you could join our yearly fishing contest and bring a trophey home. We have an ideal grill just by the lake so you can cook the fish minutes after you've caught it, but if you wern't that lucky you could allways throw something else on instead. If you plan on fishing you need a fishingcard wich you can buy from us or several other places in Tinn.

Nature routes.
If you like nature you'll love our marked nature routes, they're between 10 and 2 km long and offer a panorama view over all of Tinn Austbygd. There are also special routes for cyclists.

Gausatoppen
Gaustatoppen is a 45 minute drive away from Sandviken camping. This mountain is 1 883 meters high and is absolutly worth a visit, you can see 1/6 (50 000km2) of Norway and some of sweeden a clear day. Don't miss the famoust vaffles at "Gaustahytta" while you're up there. Its a 9km, 2.5 hour walk from the parking lot to the top, but its defenatly worth it.

The Touristboard's cabin, wich was built in 1893 and restored in 1999 and known as "Gaustahytta". It is almost located at the top of Gaustatoppen and recives about 15 000 visitors from May to September. They sell specialy marked stones so you can proove you've visited "Telemarks roof"

Local exhibitions
There is a local exhibition about 5 minutes down the road were you'll find the kultural side of Tinn Austbygd. All the pieces on show are for sale, so if something catches your eye you can take it back home with you. They offer treework, pictorial art, knives, glass/porcelain, jewlry, rosepainting and alot more. The exhibition is open during the summer. There is a similar exhibition on Atrå, wich is open all year.

The museum of industrial workers
There is a shut down power station in Rjukan called Vemork, it got power from a waterfall and provided electricity for the industrial development. The museum is in the old power station and exhibits the daily life of an industrial worker from the 1900's to the present day and facinating warhistory. Heavywater, wich was used to make the atombomb was also produced here.
